Vogue Italia’s Historical July Issue

The July issue of Vogue Italia features 150 pages of black models exclusively. This is a monumental and historical decision made by the editors of Vogue Italia. I for one think they should be applauded. What they are doing is just unheard of, considering there are usually just a few token specs of color sprinkled in the fashion spreads.

The Editor-In-Cheif Franca Sozzani said she was inspired by Barrack Obama’s historic presidential campaign. Her intention was to spark conversations about race, and to demonstrate that there is more to beauty than blonde, blue eyed Russian models. (Can I get an Amen!)

The issue features old and new pictures from famed photographer Steven Meisel. Some of the models featured are Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell, Alek Wek, Liya Kebede, Sessilee Lopez, Jourdan Dunn, Iman, and plus size model Tocarra.

Hopefully other fashion editors will take a queue from Vogue Italia, and add more model diversity to their pages. Feast your eyes on these gorgeous women.

Can someone please tell me what in the America’s Next Top Model hell, does Jaslene Gonzalez (aka Cha-Cha Divo) have on? This look wouldn’t even be cute on someone who’s chest cavity wasn’t protruding. Where is Tyra and Mr. Jay when you need them. I demand a recount, this can’t be an ANTM winner. 

Is this what desperate looks like?: The Pam Anderson Edition

While in Australia as the special guest roommate on Australia’s Big Brother, the 41 year old mother of two made a pit stop before entering the Big Brother house. During an interview, Pam desperate for attention, decided to let the Aussie’s know that she’s still got it. And what exactly has she still got you may ask? Aaa…her stripper moves? Well you know what they say, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do…work two jobs, take care of her family, and drop it like it’s hot.

Nicole and Keith welcome baby Rose

Nicole Kidman gave birth to a baby girl this morning. Hubby Keith Urban’s rep confirmed the birth of baby Rose Kidman Urban. Speaking of the name, I guess the days of naming your child after a fruit or inanimate objects are long gone. Thank God for the child, but a little boring for us. I long for day’s of the Apple, Coco, and Denim…sigh…oh well. This is NIcole’s third child, she has two adopted children with ex hubby Tom Cruise, Isabella 15 and Conner 13. This Keith’s first child. Congratulations to the happy couple.

Ashlee goes Hippie Pregnancy Chic

Ashlee showed off her baby bump while running errands in LA . I guess after her hubby revealed to the world in Out magazine that he used to make out with dudes, she needed to channel some peace and love. Its cool Ash, I’m sure it was just a phase. Kinda like when guys are in prison, and they just need a cuddle buddy on those lonley nights. No biggie.

Hancock Priemer

It was a family affair in LA last night at the Hancock primer. And of course the Smith clan were all looking picture perfect. Thank goodness for Willow’s fashion sense, or they’d border on annoyingly perfect.

Celeb stalking

JT and his main squeeze Jessica Biel were spotted hand and hand walking her pup. How cute…except as I take a closer look at Jessica, I’m now thinking…not so much. What the heck is up with her hair? Is she trying to rock a faux mullet, or does she just have hat hair. Whatever it is, it ain’t working.

And check out the Stefani-Rossdale clan. Little Kingston is getting so big. Maybe he seems so big because this is one of the few times he’s not being carried around. But, I guess I would caring my kid around until he was 14 if I had paparazzi stalking me. And can I just say this little boy has to be the best dressed toddler in Hollywood. Too cute.

Celebrities flock to London in celebration of Nelson Mandela

On June 27 a concert will be held in London’s Hyde park in celebration of Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday, and in support of his 46664 charity. The number 46664, was Mandela’s prison number during his 27 year incarceration during South Africa’s apartheid. His 46664 charity works to provide education, and funds to help fight the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa. The event will be hosted by Will Smith, and include performance and apperances by Oprah Winfrey, Queen, Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse, and many others. Concert will be aired June 30th on VH1.

Dr. Jan Adams arrested for DUI

Dr. Jan Adams, who most of us know as the plastic surgeon that operated on Donda West, Kanye West’s mother was arrested on a DUI charge in California. The California highway patrol stated that around 2:41am several drivers reported a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 680… aka he was driving on the wrong side of the road. This is Adams 2nd DUI charge and his medical license was suspended due to the first.

You know, I’m not one to force religion on anyone, but I think it’s safe to say this guy needs Jesus, or Buddha, maybe even Yahweh. Somebody take the wheel.

2008 BET Awards

The show opened with a disappointing performance from Usher. It has been a while since he’s performed, and it showed. Not only did he decide to lip sync, he really wasn’t hitting is dance moves, he was out of breath, and sweating like Whitney Houston on crack. Maybe the ball and chain was attached. The whole performance just had me yearning for Chris Brown.

…my girl wasn’t any better. Her vocals were way off and she looked like a pez despenser on that pedestal. It was just an all round mess.

So as you can see the night got off to a rocky start. Thank goodness Alicia Keys was there to save the day.

Alicia’s show stopping performance which played homage to girl groups, featured guest performances by SWV, En Vogue, and TLC. I mean what more could you ask for?

Chris Brown’s sexy dance moves with Ciara were almost too hot for T.V.

Rhianna rocked her performance, looking drop dead gorgeous as always. Shutting down the naysayers with her flawless vocals while singing her hit “Take a Bow”

…and of course what would an awards show be with out a big ol’ belly flopping around. Thanks Rick Ross.  

Al Green was honored with a BET award, and tribute with performances from Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, and the one and only Maxwell. Al then showed everybody how it’s done, when he performed some of his biggest hits like ” Love and Happiness”, which had the entire audience got on it’s feet grooving like it was 1971.
